Casa Mocha

Distinctive wines and gastronomy at Huacalera

Stepping into Casa Mocha is as much an invitation to appreciate the detail and harmony with the landscape as it is a feast for the palate.

Luciano welcomed us and accompanied us with great charm during the Casa Mocha experience.

He told us about the history of the Manzur family and their firm intention to create a space to show their products, a place where the wines and cheeses of their manufacture are boiling together with the customs of the Quebrada de Humahuaca.

That spring afternoon, the sun was shining, so we were invited to go to the cellar of the house, where El Bayeh wines share the passage of time with other great labels of Argentina, especially Salta and Jujuy.

There, in that sanctuary of the vineyard we had our snack, a walk through the flavors of Huerta El Tambo, the family project of goat dairy production, very well paired with the wines of El Bayeh, the other star, the innovative winery that made a wine in tribute to the old criollo grape growers, hence the name of the labels that carry a unique design of each town of origin, Purmamarca, Tilcara and Maimará. It also produces Trópico Sur, the premium line of parcels from the Los Faldeos estate in Huacalera, where the Tropic of Capricorn leaves its mark.

We appreciated the distinctive flavor of El Tambo, cheeses, presented in a nice picada with homemade empanadas, as much as the freshness of the Pequeños Parceleros chosen for the occasion. We wanted that afternoon to be extended, because the house invites you to stay, relax and enjoy the peace that its centenary walls transmit, but we had to leave for our home for the night in Campo Morado, on the other side of the road.

Before saying goodbye, we were delighted with the dulce de leche of goat's milk, in its natural version and with chocolate, and then we stopped by Casa Mocha's store to buy some rations for our saddlebags, so that, once back home, we could remember how much we enjoyed the gastronomy of the house in its maximum serenity.
