Vieja Posada

An oasis of comfort, good taste and bohemia in the center of Cafayate

In the galleries of the boutique hotel you can feel the history that once took place there. The same happens with the floors, the trees and the flowers, with the objects that are part not only of the decoration but also of the everyday furniture.

We arrived on a Wednesday after 10 p.m., exhausted, after a long trip along Route 40 that crowned a journey of 3,000 kilometers. Micaela assigned us the room with large windows and adobe walls and almost without delay we went to reward ourselves with a dinner at La Despensa, the restaurant of the inn that is characterized by the perfect combination of culture and cuisine.

For starters, we opted for our favorites, the unusual cheese and quinoa empanadas. Next, a stuffed pasta with tomatoes sautéed in olive oil with basil. That main course was the feast of the evening, nicely escorted with a Gualiama, the sensational malbec from cafayateño Chavo Figueroa. We were so fatigued that we had nothing left for dessert. Just to delight ourselves with the adobe bricks in sight, the musical instruments, the old chairs and tables.

In La Despensa the imprint of its creators, musician and writer Ramiro Trunsky and architect Paola Marcón, is clearly visible.

Back to our land, that night really meant a homecoming. Yes, because staying at Vieja Posada is the closest thing to staying as a guest at a friend's house. Just like Doralba Trunsky, who hosted illustrious visitors in her eagerness to promote the culture of Cafayate, used to do in the past.

We slept for ten hours at a stretch. When we woke up, the attentive manager Juan invited us to have breakfast on the arched porch, because that spring morning, still with the fresh air, offered a favorable climate to take advantage of the Calchaquí sun. Fresh juices, seasonal fruits, sweet delicacies and a variety of homemade puddings and baked goods made up the morning treat.

Staying at Vieja Posada is a different option in Cafayate.

It is two steps away from the main square but in a very quiet corner, so relaxation is a guarantee.

Even though Cafayate as a destination offers a valuable amount of activities, the facilities of the boutique hotel invite you to stay for a whole day enjoying the coolness of its shadows, such as the one provided by the centenary olive tree in the main park, or to refresh yourself in the stylish swimming pool, from which you can even glimpse the domes of the cathedral church Nuestra Señora del Rosario.

In addition, Ramiro and Paola's project includes a gem such as Casa Cultural Pedro Lávaque, an invitation for a moment of shopping for design and avant-garde objects. And in the evenings, the cultural offer is completed with presentations and concerts of artists in La Despensa

And, inside the huge half-block property, it is impossible not to indulge in its comfortable facilities, enjoy its cuisine and appreciate the history, design and high sensitivity of its creators. As a plus, for art lovers, usually on Fridays and Saturdays there are first class musical proposals.

@tripticity_ looks forward to returning to Cafayate to enjoy the Vieja Posada experience once again.
