Sala de Payogasta
Sunrise contemplating the Nevado de Cachi
Sala de Payogasta is an old manor house, with its typical arcades and adobe walls.
Some time ago, on a trip to neighboring Cachi, we had made a last-minute reservation in the room available without a view. When we saw the little hotel on Route 40 and its suites with large windows overlooking the Nevado de Cachi, we knew we had to return.
So on a trip to Luracatao we decided to spend the night in one of those rooms, because we were looking forward to waking up looking at the colossal peak.
It was winter and the cold was relentless, so we did not hesitate to light a fire in the room's fireplace, while we enjoyed Hombre Jaguar, the estate's corpulent tannat.
In the suite, a tapestry by Héctor Cruz, the Salta-born artist based in Amaicha del Valle known for his works on a loom, stood out. In other rooms there are pieces by the legendary Pajita García Bes.
In the morning, the awakening was as we had imagined, the sky became clearer, giving way to a spectacle of colors.
Then we enjoyed breakfast in the closed gallery, with large windows, hypnotic contemplating the Nevado.
The strategic location of the Sala, right on Route 40, together with the excellent quality of the wines of the small neighboring winery, makes it a relevant option for those who undertake the return trip to the Valleys.
