The estancia built by the Álvarez Prado family dates back to the 18th century, when it served as a relay on the road that linked the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata with that of Peru.

It is located between Tilcara and Purmamarca, in the Quebrada de Humahuaca, on National Route 9.

It is a historical museum that gives an account of the lifestyle and exploits of the independence period, with a curious repertoire of weapons used during and after the revolutionary wars. The collection also includes a historic wagon and objects of daily life, such as a stone mill.

Of characteristic colonial architecture, the manor house is structured around three courtyards where the different rooms converge. Its wide walls are made of adobe. The chapel and the centennial trees that surround it complete the beautiful complex.
