Los Colorados
A geological explosion
The classic postcard of Purmamarca can be very easily enriched with a quiet walk along the Colorados walkway.
It does not require too much effort. It is a peaceful walk of about 45 minutes on the backs of the town, where the colorful hills intensify their profiles, their brightness and their energy. If you do not have the minimum physical condition required, it is even more comfortable to travel by car.
On the one hand, the greens, not only of the cacti and grasslands on the ground, but also of the most remote mountain range. Some cerulean tones and mosses can be glimpsed, others a little lighter, like pistachio, as well as the dark tones of the pines or algae.
Then, the one that gives it its name: red, which invites to the show its orange, purple, vermilion and -even- a coral.
A favorite is the light pink that shyly makes its way among so much intensity.
All this geological explosion takes place under a vivid blue sky, escorted by the ever-present sun of the puna, which forces you to protect yourself with a hat and long sleeves because it burns whether summer or winter, and helped -at times- by the gusts of the merciless wind in each gorge.
Such an imposing landscape delights while breathing the pure but dry -extremely dry- air of the Quebrada.
All just five minutes away from the small square of Purmamarca.
