La Cumbre
Elegant village in the Punilla Valley
Our friend Marcelo, the illustrious native of Córdoba that we met during our road trip to the south of Argentina, particularly during the visit to the city of Trevelin, as soon as we told him about our plans to visit the city of Córdoba, he did not hesitate to offer us a tour of the Sierras Cordobesas.
His proposal was to go on a tour to La Cumbre. Its name evidences its location in the Sierras Chicas, since the railroad used to reach there, being the highest village of the railroad branch.
Old houses, neat chalets and a great view of the Punilla Valley characterize it.
It is neat and distinguished, as evidenced by the summer houses and stylish buildings such as its Golf Club or the Gran Hotel, among others.
We visited the admirable hotel project of the valley, Pueblo Nativo resort. It has a golf course, an infinity pool, spa and -of course- spectacular views. We are looking forward to spending a couple of relaxing days there, and hope to do so on our next visit to Córdoba!
For coffee, the proposal was at the lively parador Viva la Pepa, a patisserie operating out of an old train carriage, serving very fine tea and pastry options. Right next door, Hilando Fino décor store offers warm home design objects.
After a tour of La Cumbre town center, by sunset, we went for another stop at Punta de Piedra, an adults only boutique hotel with a great view of the sierras -with the legendary Uritorco in the background- that offers great gastronomic experiences and lots and lots of serenity. A future visit to this beautiful country inn is also pending.
In Cruz Chica you can visit the Museo Miguel Ocampo Miguel Ocampo Museum and the Casa Museo House Museum of the writer Manuel Mujica Lainez, all within an hour's drive from the capital of Córdoba.
