Campo Morado
Feeling like home in Huacalera
Right in the center of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, very close to the Capricorn Tropic monolith, a six-room inn offers a guaranteed good rest.
It is the house of Alicia, Campo Morado, who offers herself to her guests as a kind hostess. The best she knows how to give is precisely her hospitality, always ready to provide an advice because of her knowledge of the area, to satisfy her visitor's needs, clarifying that her posada is a house and that her food is not gourmet but familiar.
Huacalera is a passing town, in which perhaps only its old church stands out, where in 1841 the remains of General Juan Lavalle were defleshed by his faithful followers, who were fleeing from the federal forces on their way to the altiplano.
The old train station, just a few meters from Route 9, is another sign of the history of this small and somewhat forgotten town in the ravine.
Alicia's, without a doubt, is a strategic point to make a base for any visit. It is
comfortable, pleasant and warm.
An outstanding feature was the breakfast she served, very complete, with natural juice, fresh fruits, muffins, tortillas and croissants warmed up. The sweets are of Alicia's own manufacture, as it could not be otherwise.
It also offers dinner from a unique menu with previous reservation.
For @tripticity_ staying at Campo Morado, after the long but wonderful trip from Caspalá, felt like a blessing of good taste, courtesy and, above all, comfort.
