Andean Regional Museum

An interesting interpretation center

In the quiet San Antonio de los Cobres, it is surprising to find a small and well managed interpretation center, the Andean Regional Museum.

Its enclave very close to the arid mountain gives a nice context to the old white house in which it operates.

There are some narrow rooms that not only tell the history of the town and surroundings, but also teach about the topographic characteristics of the area, its flora and the animals that live there, the minerals that are found there and gave meaning to its existence.

Of course, a room is dedicated to the construction of the famous La Polvorilla viaduct, the highest of the section, the only one in the world built -at the beginning of the 20th century- in curve, uphill and with the rails somewhat inclined, with interesting records of those brave men who achieved such a great engineering work.

Your visit is short and entertaining, well deserved!
