Alto Traful

Great views and high design

Villa Traful, perhaps the most isolated village in the Lakes area due to its uncomfortable access, either from Villa Angostura (in Neuquén) or from Bariloche (in Río Negro), is undoubtedly a guarantee of authentic tranquility in a setting of Patagonian beauty.

The simple yet sophisticated Hotel Alto Traful has one of the best views of the majestic lake, surrounded by mountains and forests. The contemporary architecture guarantees the panoramic view from all the common areas and of course from its rooms, which are spacious, modern, warm and comfortable, all of them with an unbeatable balcony. It is a perfect combination of good services and a superb view.

In addition to a heated pool, the hotel offers dry sauna, Finnish sauna and Scottish shower in its small but complete spa.

After enjoying them, I decided to take some massages to be surprised not only by the beautiful hidden area of the hotel, specially set for relaxation, but also by the gentleness of Melina, whose hands worked magic when she performed those unforgettable relaxing massages, which guaranteed a deep sleep in the silent night of Villa Traful after so many kilometers traveled.

The hotel restaurant offers options according to the time of day. At noon, the menu consists of a limited but efficient menu of casual dishes. As we had arrived early, we tried a complete hamburger along with a couple of Spritz and were more than satisfied. At night the place transforms and the proposals are more sophisticated, with different tableware, quiet music in the background and the windows offering a beautiful sunset. Local products stand out, such as the characteristic trout, in its tiradito or ceviche version. The stuffed pasta was delicious, as was the hot vichyssoise with fresh leek from the garden. The rich Italian-style canolo stuffed with ricotta and chocolate for dessert was also delicious.

In the morning, we were surprised by the generous pastries at the breakfast buffet, highly recommended.

Then, I honored Melina's invitation to practice yoga with her guide. The appointment was early in the hall of municipal facilities, which in addition to relaxation served to make a quick tour of the surroundings.

All the stars came together to make me feel energized in Alto Traful, a great option for those who want to visit the south in an atmosphere of greater tranquility in the middle of high season. The only requirement is to have your own vehicle and to be willing to resist the bumps and ups and downs of the gravel road. The reward when arriving at destination is a lodging that, in our case, exceeded our expectations.
